FAQs

What types of sessions do you offer?
I photograph newborns (my favorite!), babies, children, families, and maternity sessions. I do not photograph weddings but can refer you to some amazing local wedding photographers!

Where do you photograph sessions?
Newborns are photographed at my downtown studio, which has controlled temperature and lighting to make these sessions ideal and comfortable for newborn babies. All other sessions are photographed at your choice of locations, including my studio, your home, or any location in the Tallahassee area. Locations more than 20 miles from zip code 32303 are subject to a travel fee. I do recommend photographing non-sitting babies at the studio or your home and once babies are sitting up, they can be photographed at outdoor locations with beautiful results.

How can I reserve a session?
When you decide to book your session, I will send you a contract to sign online and an invoice for the session fee. Once your session fee is paid and your contract is signed, your session is reserved!

When should I book my session?
You can schedule sessions at any time but I recommend scheduling during the 2nd trimester for newborn sessions to ensure availability. I try to leave room in my schedule for last minute newborn bookings, but this isn’t always possible and I hate to turn people away because I’m booked. For maternity sessions, I recommend scheduling between 30-34 weeks for best results. Baby, child, and family sessions can be scheduled for any time of the year, but please note that fall is my busiest time for outdoor sessions due to so many families wanting holiday cards and updated family photos. For this reason, outdoor sessions in the fall book up very quickly.

What appointment times are available for scheduling?
Studio sessions are available on weekday mornings and afternoons. Outdoor sessions are typically scheduled 1-2 hours before sunset to take advantage of the beautiful golden light.

Since you photograph so many newborns and babies, are you vaccinated?
Yes, I got my Covid vaccination and make sure to get a flu shot annually. I also stay current on the whooping cough vaccine. I also request that parents do not bring sick children into the studio and I reschedule sessions if I am sick myself, so that I can keep the studio as germ-free as possible. I also wash posing blankets, wraps, and other items used between each session so it’s fresh and clean for the next baby.

What happens during the session?
When we meet at my studio or the session location, I like to take a few minutes getting to know your family and answering any questions you may have before we begin the session. I find this is especially important for family sessions, as a large camera can be intimidating to small children and I like being able to put them at ease before we start. Family sessions are very relaxed and lots of fun, and I focus on getting not only portraits but also capturing interaction between family members. Sessions will vary depending on the age of the subjects and the location, but we will do several setups at the studio and visit several places within a location to ensure variety in your images.

What happens after the session?
Once your session is complete, I go through the photos one by one and cull out the absolute best photos from your session. I only show the best of the best, so you won’t see any photos with blinking eyes or awkward expressions. Once I choose the best photos from your session, I go through and individually process each photo with all the attention to detail that your photos deserve. I will have the photos processed and ready for you within 2 weeks. Once your photos have been processed and are ready, I upload the photos to a private gallery for one week. This allows you to choose the photos you are interested in ordering and also allows out of town family members and friends to enjoy the photos from your session. Select images from the session may also be shared on my Facebook business page. Clients are welcome to share these photos on their own wall or use them as profile photos.

When will I receive my products?
If you add on any prints or specialty products after your session, the turnaround time will vary by product. Prints take approximately one week to arrive. My albums and frames are hand-crafted and custom designed, and due to this, they have a 3-4 week turnaround time.

What is your payment policy?
I accept cash, checks, and credit cards. No products will be delivered until payment has been made in full.

Do you offer any discounts?
I offer discounted mini sessions for families each fall, and occasionally for special events. Please sign up for my mailing list if you are interested in hearing about these specials.
